Southwest Airlines to Reduce Hawaii Flights in 2025
Southwest Airlines to Reduce Hawaii Flights in 2025
Southwest Airlines is making significant adjustments to its Hawaii flight schedule in 2025, including reductions in interisland flights and some mainland routes. These changes reflect the airline’s ongoing strategy shift as it refines its Hawaii operations.
Flight Reductions and Adjustments
Starting April 8, 2025, Southwest will cut interisland routes:
Honolulu to Maui will drop from 11 flights to 8 per day.
Honolulu to Kona and Honolulu to Līhuʻe will decrease from 6 to 5 daily flights.
While some flights are being reduced, Southwest is increasing service in select markets:
Las Vegas to Honolulu will increase from 2 to 3 flights per day starting June 5, 2025.
Maui to San Jose will expand from 2 flights per week to 5.
Why the Changes?
Southwest has faced challenges with its Hawaii operations and is adjusting its focus to key markets. Alongside route modifications, the airline is also revamping its boarding process and pricing strategy.
What This Means for Travelers
These changes could impact passengers who depend on Southwest for interisland travel or affordable flights between the mainland and Hawaii. Travelers should stay updated on schedule shifts, potential fare adjustments, and evolving service options when planning their trips.
